In today’s episode, we’ll dive into the psychology of why email blasting works and dispel all the myths that come along with it. Aleks will show us how to do it right and why every ecom store should do the same and make use of their existing email listings not only to jack up their sales but also to keep customers coming back for more.
Email is traffic that you can control and you can do whatever you want with it at any time. Besides it being free it’s also one of the highest traffic conversion sources that can greatly increase the traffic ROI in your stores.

The Science Behind Emailing
As human beings, we are affected by our cognitive biases whether consciously or subconsciously. We make decisions based on these biases and oftentimes we aren’t even aware that we are doing it. There are at least two biases that support the claim that email blasting works and those are the availability-misweighing tendency and the mere-exposure effect. Both were clearly explained by Aleks who is known to be a science-based guy.
Don’t Stick to one, MIX it up!
If you are wondering what types of emails to send to your list then you should consider automated and scheduled campaigns for your store. Don’t be afraid to mix up your content based emails with your promo emails because if you overwhelm your customers with promos, then more often than not it doesn’t work. You want just the right amount of free information and anticipated promos to come their way so that your promos do not lose value to them.
Haters’ Gonna Hate
Your contact list is a goldmine. If the only thing that’s stopping you from sending out emails to your customers is the thought that they might choose to unsubscribe to your mailing list, then let me tell you, it’s not a big deal! Whether you give out products for free or give the most valuable content out there, it will still happen because people may be at different stages of a customer life cycle in your company. In short, might as well take the chance with your list and let things happen than miss out on sales.
